746 - Vibration characteristics of rotating beams with periodically distributed piezoelectric dampers

Abstract
Periodic beams have proven to possess vibration attenuation properties that could be tailored to cover specific frequency bands. Experiments were performed on the properties of rotating periodic beams and were highly encouraging to proceed for further investigations. On the other hand, piezoelectric patches bonded to the surface of a vibrating structure have shown great potential for vibration damping when shunted to a passive RL circuit that dissipates the electric energy or connected to a closed loop control system. In this study, we will investigate the effect of adding periodically distributed piezoelectric patches with shunt RL circuit on the vibration characteristics of the rotating beam
