Noise Mapping & GIS

According to the 2002/49/EC Directive, strategic noise mappings will be due to the EC in 2006. Several research groups in Europe agree that the use of GIS technologies is a promising tool for addressing this problem in a way oriented to people information; innovative techniques are under developement in order to determine the population exposure to noise.
Papers addressing the different problems which may arise (interactions with meteo, land use and developement data, measurements and theoretical assessment of noise, terrain and impedance models are a few examples) or presenting the different possible solutions will be welcome to this session.
