Abstract
Noise pollution is a familiar problem in diverse manufacturing work places. With the identification of the special effects of noise on humans, the noise problem and it’s effects in gaining greater than ever significance. Companies with more consciousness of the issue are taking safety measures so as to prevent the harmful effects of noise on their workers. Several options exist in our day to care for workforce from noise problem such as passive and active hearing protection equipments, noise reduction devices and noise elimination technology. The method to be preferred depends on some conditions. Every one of the methods can be applied lonely or in combination with other systems to decrease noise exposure in the work places. This study was carried out in a mid-size industrial work place in Erzurum/Turkey with a considerably high level of indoor noise. The first step was to determine the noise levels at the work place and find out how the employees are affected from it. In the later stages, an arrangement was prepared at an area with high noise levels in the building by following the basic principles of acoustic panels and labyrinth noise shelter methods. As a result, after measuring the performance of the new arrangement for the gradual elimination and decreasing the spread of noise, the advisability of the new arrangement was discussed.
