Abstract
Sound quality characteristics of refrigerator noise were investigated and subjective evaluations for the noise were conducted. A two-category and nine-point scale was used for the evaluation. Refrigerator noise was presented to subjects using a stereo dipole system in an anechoic chamber. Correlation analysis results between sound quality parameters and subjective evaluation result showed that Zwicker's loudness was a major factor for annoyance of refrigerator noise. The just noticeable difference (jnd) for loudness was around 0.5 sone. Zwicker's sharpness of refrigerator noise was also investigated.
