234 - Acoustical quality of indoor spaces: analysis of the influence of design and building materias
Barbaro S., Caracausi R.
Abstract
The building shape and a correct choice of materials is of prime importance as regards the adequate level of indoor noise quality. This paper is concerned with some experimental results gathered in a measurement campaign carried out by the authors. With a view to identifying the architectural forms best adapted to increase noise mitigation and formulating answers to questions concerning the influence of building materials on indoor acoustic quality, many campaign of measurement have been assessed in different situations. This study has contributed to developing our knowledge of sound propagation and insulation effects, which must be the starting point in the projecting stage when an improvement of the urban dwellings has to be obtained.
